ÖkoFEN dedicates 100,000th pellet boiler to UNICEF Austria

ÖkoFEN, based in Niederkappel/Austria, has more than 30 years of experience in renewable heating and is regarded as Europe's specialist for wood pellet boilers. The great export success, but also a strongly increasing demand in Austria led to a sales growth of more than 40 percent in 2019: Now the 100,000th pellet boiler has been produced by ÖkoFEN. The Austrian company is using this anniversary to strengthen the partnership with UNICEF Austria that exists since 2019.

In 1997 ÖkoFEN presented the world's first type-tested wood pellet boiler. Since then the Austrian company has developed the major innovations in the pellet industry. From the space-saving storage tank to highly efficient pellet condensing boilers and power-generating boilers, everything comes from the pellet specialist's R6D department.
23 years after the first one, ÖkoFEN now produced the 100,000th pellet boiler in June 2020. On the occasion of this anniversary, the company came up with something special: The boiler was produced as a UNICEF Austria special edition and the proceeds will be donated to the United Nations Children's Fund.

"This step will strengthen the cooperation with UNICEF Austria, which was started in 2019. We have been financing drinking water treatment projects since the previous year and now we are supporting the work for children in crisis regions with another donation," emphasizes managing director Stefan Ortner.

The donation will be used by UNICEF Austria to implement projects in the field of water and climate protection. Especially due to the current situation of the corona pandemic, which particularly affects countries with weak infrastructures, the assistance of UNICEF Austria is indispensable.

"We are very proud and happy to have such a committed cooperation partner as ÖkoFEN, which is not only committed to the topic of energy for a better future. We would like to thank them for their great donation on the occasion of the production of the 100,000 pellet boiler for children and their families in need. Thanks to ÖkoFEN we can achieve a lot of good things in water and climate protection projects", UNICEF Austria representative Dr. Anna Gudra is pleased to say.

Public welfare and sustainability as corporate goals
The company, founded in 1989 by pellet pioneer Herbert Ortner and now managed by his son Stefan Ortner, is now an internationally active organisation with an export share of more than 90 percent. A key success factor lies in its sustainable orientation. In addition to its production sites in Europe, ÖkoFEN is 100 percent committed to innovations for heating with pellets. For this reason the company invests all profits exclusively in the development of the market and the further development of its products and services. In this way the company has constantly set new technical milestones and has become a globally active specialist in wood pellet boiler technology.
